What dirty tricks will the US resort to as its patience – and ceasefire time – runs out in Lebanon?
Brace for more phone attacks, home explosions, and war from the President who ran on ‘peace’ while cashing a $100 million Adelson check.

Trump’s new Middle East Envoy, Ortagus, one-upped Rice in her statements hailing the Israeli war and siege on Lebanon from the Lebanese Presidential palace in Baabda. (Al Mayadeen English; Illustrated by Batoul Chamas)
A Hezbollah fighter and his three daughters were brutally killed when "Israel" rigged their home with bombs in Tayr Harfa, South Lebanon near the border. The father, Abbas Haidar, was a brave and pious Hezbollah soldier who took part in the heroic ambushes on Israeli soldier groupings in Chamaa, South Lebanon that helped serve "Israel" in its defeat.
Just hours later, the US Ambassador and Trump's New ultra-zionist envoy Ortagus inspected locations in the South, including near Tayr Harfa and Chamaa, the latter where Hezbollah waged crushing ambushes against "Israeli" occupying soldiers months ago.
It’s no coincidence that these were the sights that, like the burning of tanks in Chamaa, embodied the defeat of the Zionist entity’s ground incursion into Lebanon.
The fighter hero Abbas was reportedly part of the Chamaa ambush, and "Israel" rigged bombs in his home as dirty revenge. The US Ambassador and Ortegus were there to greenlight it and to assess the aftermath. There was never an explanation for why they did that tour. There is a method to the madness.
It’s no coincidence that one of the US’ top concessions for Gaza – stated in Biden’s January 2024 meeting with Israeli leadership – was the replacement of Hamas with a PA-style leadership. And now, PA-style tactics of ground and home attacks against the homes and families of Resistance fighters are being tested, reminiscent of the home invasions and home sabotage undertaken by the comprador authority against the Palestinian Resistance factions in the West Bank. The US helped push for the infiltration of PA-aligned spies into Gaza, sent in by the Authority’s intelligence chief. This easily failed and was thwarted by Hamas, as sovereign Gazan authorities managed to maintain control over the enclave despite the Israeli targeted killings, genocide, and complete destruction of infrastructure.
On January 5, Palestinian Resistance forces confiscated an RPG used by the Palestinian Authority – loyally acting as "Israel’s" ground force in blowing up homes in Jenin. PA-backed gunmen routinely storm into the homes, neighborhoods, and familiar routes of Resistance fighters and resistant intellectuals alike – executing the dirty work on the ground that "Israel" does afar from the air.
And speaking of execution, the US – reflected in Ortagus’s hopes and dreams – has been backing "Israel’s" wanton murders, targetings, and attacks on Hezbollah members and their families – even post-ceasefire. A Hezbollah official in the West Bekaa village of Machghara was gunned down outside his home.
It’s no coincidence that Netanyahu’s choice of gift to Trump was a Golden Pager mounted onto a cross-section of an ancient olive tree trunk – a gold-plated gloat over the desecration of Lebanon’s natural and social fabric – the symbolic explosive pager mounted on the severed and sliced appendage of Lebanon’s deeply-rooted Southern Lebanese icon (notice again – it was an olive tree, characteristic of Lebanon’s south, not a Cedar tree of its north). Perhaps Netanyahu was passive-aggressively reminding Trump of the job the US President is supposed to fulfill.
The attack came as New Trump Middle East Envoy Ortagus, who surpasses her predecessor, former IOF member Hochstein, in rabid Zionism, delivered shocking and insulting remarks in the Baabda palace. At a press conference, she claimed, "Israel defeated Hezbollah, and we are grateful. We hope for an end to Hezbollah’s influence in Lebanon. It should not join the new government, as its era of intimidation is over." Ortagus dared to call for a Lebanese government free of the duo that, with allies, held a parliamentary majority in 2018, 62 seats in 2022, and alone receives a plurality of votes compared to other Lebanese parties.
As the locus of the Israeli/American war shifted over to Lebanon, the US sought to implement their longtime goal of eliminating Hezbollah from assuming any political or military role in Lebanon. Backing the rogue and senseless Israeli killing of Hezbollah leaders, the US Ambassador told Lebanon to "prepare for a post-Hezbollah era;" reminiscent of Condoleezza Rice’s imagined heralding of a New Middle East. Ortagus’s insulting, provocative, and arrogant words are a call for war in the same vein.
Trump’s new Middle East Envoy, Ortagus, one-upped Rice in her statements hailing the Israeli war and siege on Lebanon from the Lebanese Presidential palace in Baabda. Poised to provoke, flashing her Star of David ring during a handshake photo with the Lebanese president, her mere presence reminded the Lebanese that the imposition of the US-Israeli settler-colonial policies would come in full force.
Decades of USAID and Ford Foundation-funded projects designed to socially and electorally engineer Hezbollah out of Lebanese society have failed. The ‘target’ population, the Shia community, was more than ideologically equipped – through Hezbollah’s fostering of a strong milieu of culture and political education and decades of Sayyed Nasrallah’s insight-instilling speeches – to resist the US' ideological conditioning.
Where the US and "Israel" attempted to inflict a crisis in leadership on the Resistance, they couldn’t hold back from their own crisis in leadership. As the occupation sensed its lack of control over borders, it is seeking to destabilize Lebanon’s borders from the south and the north to overwhelm Hezbollah once "Israel’s" self-proclaimed ‘ceasefire’ extension comes to an end. The ceasefire, already violated by "Israel" about a thousand times, is thawing the Resistance’s stone-hard patience, a temporary freezing of the conflict used to reposition attacks on the Resistance from all ends.
The ceasefire began with the subsequent fall of Syria by Western-backed Takfiri militants, now just days away from "Israel’s" new deadline, engaging with deadly and destructive border infiltration and incitement of strife as they battle with Lebanese clans in Baalbeck. Once again, the army was ordered to steer clear of interference in US plans and is nowhere to be found as Jolani-aligned terrorists attack them from the northeast, attempting to make their incursions into Lebanon to again be weaponized against the Lebanese Resistance and the people as February 18 – "Israel’s" self-extended withdrawal period – nears.
On the south, "Israel’s" attempts to re-occupy Lebanon south of the Litani are evident in means of booby-trapping homes of Resistance members, planting devices for surveillance and murder in them – and forcing ‘security belts’ as tactical precursors to expand its occupation. "Israel" has committed around a thousand ceasefire violations across Lebanon since the deal went into effect – and the occupation has used the stated period – first 60 days, now nearly 90 – to attack homes, neighborhoods, and communities of the South and the Bekaa.
Not only is this forceful implementation of the "New Middle East" governance on Gaza and Lebanon aimed at politically sidelining the Resistance, but attacking them and their families in such terror attacks comes as a last-ditch effort to completely kill off everyone in the Resistance organization – along with their families, one by one. Future attacks will go beyond pagers – they’ll include phones, technological interfaces, homes – as Trump, Musk, and Big Tech consolidate their power. Big Tech, having taken liberties in Gaza, will further weaponize its instruments into the heart of Resistance society across occupied Palestine and Lebanon, where psychological warfare and social engineering had failed. This explains the change in tune of the Big Tech community which has shifted from discursively liberal to neo-con overnight – to match the shifting course and tune of hostility meant to force objectives by coercion that couldn’t be accomplished by ‘consent.’
Google may have quietly dropped its pledge that – on paper – prevented its technology from being a direct instrument in warfare and surveillance, but Gaza’s AI-powered genocide already announced the loud transition Big Tech made from an instrument of soft war to a weapon of hot war. The US tearing up its on-paper commitments to human rights standards, agencies and bodies marked the transition from holding the UN Human Rights Council hostage to completely divesting from its terms altogether. The previous administration’s unconditional funding of genocide has torn off the US’ ‘rule of law’ and ‘human rights’ facade and now the masks – and the gloves – are completely off.
