CBS' Bari wants to 'redraw lines' in media, but elevates Alan Dershowitz, as new 'center'
During the Jewish Leadership Conference 2025, CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss said that she wants to "redraw the 40-yard lines of acceptable debate and acceptable American politics and culture," arguing that the country should elevate voices that represent what she describes as "the 75%"; those on the center-left and center-right. In outlining her vision, Weiss said the goal is to move away from what she calls "the extremes", naming figures like Hasan Piker, Tucker Carlson, and Nick Fuentes as examples of commentary she believes falls outside that range. But the figures she holds up as part of this redefined "center" raise their own set of questions. Weiss cites Alan Dershowitz and Dana Loesch as models of "charismatic" debate, despite the video of the discussion she references, at the time, received merely thousands of views on YouTube, in contrast to the people she mentions. Meanwhile, Alan Dershowitz has a long history of documented controversies, such as defending Epstein.
