Iranian FM warns of foreign interference in the region
Iranian FM and Omani FM discuss over the phone regional and bilateral affairs emphasizing on the Biden's upcoming visit to West Asia.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian warned regional states of foreign interference that might result in regional disruption of stability and cooperation ahead of US President Joe Biden's visit to Saudi Arabia and "Israel" in mid-July.
In a phone conversation with his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, the Iranian FM discussed major bilateral affairs and mutual interests on both the regional as well as international levels. Amir-Abdollahian also pointed out to Omani FM that West Asia must refuse extra-regional countries to influence the future of cooperation and stability in the region.

According to the Foreign Ministry’s website, Amir-Abdollahian said that “we emphasize dialogue and cooperation in the region and believe that the West Asian nations should decide their future by themselves.”
Recently, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi visited Oman, which has been described by the Iranian FM as a turning point in the relationship between Tehran and Muscat.
Furthermore, Amir-Abdollahian and Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, both emphasized the importance of their bilateral developments and agreed to continue to cooperate and pursue, as well as implement bilateral agreements.
During Raisi’s visit to Muscat, Sayyid Albusaidi underlined that Oman trusts the new Iranian administration and its approach to mutual development and expansion of ties in the region. Moreover, the Omani FM announced that a group has been formed, within Oman, to monitor and develop further agreements with Iran.
On a different note, the two counterparts discussed the situation in Yemen and welcomed the ongoing truce. However, Amir-Abdollahian highlighted the importance of a complete lifting of the siege against Yemen.
