Bagheri Kani: No success in Vienna unless sanctions are lifted
Delegates of participating countries in the Vienna Talks have emphasized the importance of following up on the issue of lifting the sanctions on Iran.
Iran's lead negotiator in the Vienna Talks Ali Bagheri Kani announced that talks at the level of expert committees will be held in Vienna today to discuss lifting the sanctions on Tehran.
Bagheri Kani detailed that delegates from various participating countries have affirmed the importance of following up on lifting the sanctions and providing guarantees.
On the basis of these affirmations, he pointed out that it was decided to start discussing the issue of canceling the embargo today and Iran's proposals regarding two important issues, namely verifying the cancellation of the embargo and offering guarantees, in addition to the financial and banking embargo which will be discussed in the meetings of the specialized committees between the delegates of Iran and the P4+1 (Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany).
Negotiations between Iran and the P4+1 resumed in Vienna on Monday, December 27.
The European Union Coordinator for Nuclear Talks with Iran, Enrique Mora, said during a press conference that "difficult political decisions have to be taken both in Tehran and in Washington."
Following the meeting, he stated that negotiators would continue throughout the week but would halt on Friday through Sunday due to logistical reasons. He stated that they plan to continue work next Monday.
