Euronext sees record listings in 2021
Euronext has seen record primary market activity in 2021, confirming its position as Europe's leading equity listing venue and a global leader in debt listing.
According to the operator, a record number of companies debuted on the Euronext index in 2021, as the pan-European exchange benefited from Brexit and added Milan to the group.
Euronext reported that 212 companies were newly listed this year, with a total market capitalization of 123 billion euros ($139 billion), but it did not specify how many were delisted.
This year's additions to the index include Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Lisbon, Oslo, Paris, and Milan.
"In 2021, Euronext confirmed its position as the leading European market infrastructure, thanks to Borsa Italiana joining the Group in April 2021, and benefiting from post-Brexit conditions," said the firm's chief executive, Stephane Boujnah.
Britain formally exited the European Union at the start of the year, handing Amsterdam the European share trading crown for the majority of 2021.
Euronext has 1,959 listed companies worth a total of 6.9 trillion euros across its seven exchanges.
The introduction of Universal Music Group in Amsterdam was one of the year's most high-profile listings.
According to data provider Dealogic, it has been a banner year for initial public offerings worldwide, with $592 billion raised in 2021, up 85% from 2020.
