First Minister under Raisi to visit UAE next month, extending economic diplomacy
The meeting comes as part of UAE's "continuation of the path of de-escalation with Iran."
Iranian Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade, Reza Fatemi Amin, will visit the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman next month.
Director of the Office of Arab and African Affairs at the Iranian Trade Development Organization, Farzad Belten, said that Amin will be visiting the UAE from February 17 to 19, accompanied by a large delegation of commerce and economy.
Belten added that the Industry Minister's visit comes within the framework of Tehran's programs to expand economic and trade diplomacy with countries in the region, especially with neighbors in the south.
"The Iranian minister will visit the Expo, meet with Iranian businessmen and traders, and attend a meeting between members of the accompanying trade delegation with multinational businessmen residing in Dubai," Belten confirmed.
Political relations between Iran and the UAE, an ally of Riyadh, have been tense for years over a myriad of issues. However, the two countries have extensive commercial ties.
The UAE has recently announced "its continuation of the path of de-escalation with Iran," stressing at the same time that it "reserves the right to fully defend itself."
Anwar Gargash, a diplomatic advisor to Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, said that Abu Dhabi is taking steps to calm tensions with Iran within a political maneuver which upholds diplomacy and avoids confrontation.
In a phone call on November 11, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed discussed bilateral relations and areas of joint cooperation with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi previously confirmed that there are no obstacles in the way of expanding Iran-UAE relations when it came to a number of matters - especially in economy.
