Iranian Crude Oil Price Increases to $74 a Barrel
According to an OPEC report, oil production in Iran has recorded a $4 increase to its barrel, marking a $74.08 price per barrel.
OPEC has recorded, for the month of September 2021, a substantial increase in the price of crude oil - seeing a $4 increase, the cost of a barrel landed at $74.08.
Referring to secondary sources, OPEC reported that Iran produced 2,503,000 barrels of crude oil on a daily basis in the same month. This is a 22,000 barrel daily increase from August, 2021.
According to the same report, in June, Iran produced 2,470,000 barrels of oil; in May, 2,437,000 barrels were produced in comparison to April, which saw the production of 2,422,000 barrels of crude oil. In addition, 2,328,000 were produced in March, 2021.
The report comes amid US attempts to steal an Iranian oil tanker in the Sea of Oman.
The Iranian TV detailed that "the US forces stopped an Iranian oil tanker in the Gulf of ​​Oman, confiscated its cargo and transferred the shipment to another tanker belonging to it before heading to an unknown destination."
It added that, in conjunction with this move, the IRGC carried out a landing operation on the US tanker, assumed control over it, and immediately directed the tanker towards Iranian territorial waters. In the meantime, broadcasted scenes of the incident show IRGC members preventing a US frigate from interfering and forcing it to withdraw.
