Iran's annual non-oil foreign trade hits $100b record
Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy said that the country's non-oil foreign trade during the past Iranian year increased by 38% compared to the previous year.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Director General of Iran's Customs Administration (IRICA), Alireza Moghaddasi, stated that Iran's non-oil foreign trade during the past year reached $100 billion, showing an increase of 38% compared to the year before.
Moghaddasi added that Iran and other countries from across the world exchanged 62 million tons of goods during the Year 1400 (from March 21, 2021, to March 20, 2022).
Iran exported 122 million tons of Iranian goods, worth $48 billion, to all parts of the world in 1400, an increase of 41% compared to the year before, he said.
The country imported more than 40 million tons of goods, worth $52 billion, including commodities, production machinery, and raw materials, he added, showing an increase of 21% in weight and 36% in value, in comparison with the year before, according to Moghaddasi.
The top five exporters to the country in the last year were China, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Turkey, and Russia, the deputy minister said.
As for the Iranian exports' main destinations, they were Iraq, China, UAE, Turkey, and Afghanistan, he added.
Foreign goods that passed through the Iranian borders in 1400, Moghaddasi said, reached 12.5 million tons, showing an increase of 68%.
