Iran's exports to African countries climb by 107% over year
Iranian exports to Africa have amounted to $1.195 billion in comparison with the year before.
According to media reports citing Farzad Piltan, the director-general of the Arab and African Office of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, the Iranian exports to Africa during the last Iranian year, which ended on March 20, have increased by 107%, amounting to $1.195 billion in comparison with the year before.
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) cited Piltan as saying that Iran's top buyer in Africa was Ghana, which exported goods for $353 million, and the second top buyer was South Africa with $254 million. Nigeria follows to be the third top buyer at $125 million, Mozambique the fourth at $98 million, and Kenya the fifth with $77 million in exports.
Sudan ($73 million), Algeria ($67 million), Tanzania ($55 million), Somalia ($29 million), and Ethiopia ($11 million) are the African nations that are among Iran's top ten exporters.
Piltan was also cited by the Iran Front Page outlet as saying that Iran's imports from African countries decreased by 37% in a year, adding that the present trade level between African countries and Iran can be increased by as many as five times.
