Qatar designates Total as 1st partner for world's largest LNG project
The NFE project will increase Qatar's LNG capacity from 77 to 110 million tons per year.
QatarEnergy announced, on Sunday, that TotalEnergies of France will be its first foreign partner in the North Field East expansion plan, which is considered the world's largest liquefied natural gas project.
In a post on social media, the state company said that "QatarEnergy announces the selection of TotalEnergies as its first international partner in the North Field East expansion project, the single largest project in the history of the LNG industry."
The Qatari Energy Minister and QatarEnergy’s chief executive Saad Al-Kaabi called the signing of the partnership agreement "a historic landmark for Qatar’s energy industry and the world’s largest LNG development."
It is worth noting that the NFE project will increase Qatar's LNG capacity from 77 to 110 million tons per year.
TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne expressed his gratitude for the company's selection for the massive LNG project, which he said would strengthen Total's ability to contribute to European energy security.
