Utah prohibits Fluoride in public drinking water for first time in US
While the mineral has proven health benefits, it has been the center of many conspiracy theories, ranging from mind control to "spiritual suppression" through the calcification of the pineal gland.

Utah has become the first state in the United States to implement a ban on fluoride in public drinking water, despite significant opposition from national health organizations and dentists.
The Republican governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, signed a legislation on Thursday that would prevent cities and communities in the state from deciding whether to add the mineral to their water systems. Utah lawmakers originally pushed for the ban, citing the high costs of fluoride.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that fluoride plays a crucial role in dental health by replenishing minerals that are naturally depleted through everyday wear and tear, thereby enhancing tooth strength and lowering the risk of cavities.
However, fluoride has been the center of much conspiracy, with theories ranging from claims of mind control and population manipulation to accusations of harmful health effects and government cover-ups. These ideas, though widely debunked by scientific research, continue to fuel public debate over the practice of adding fluoride to drinking water.
The governor recently compared fluoridating water to being "medicated" by the government, having grown up and raised his kids in a community without fluoridated water, while the US Health Secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr. previously expressed his skepticism about Fluoride.
The National Toxicology Program (NTP) has declared, “… the data support a consistent inverse association between fluoride exposure and children’s IQ.”

Despite its widespread adoption, some cities across the country have removed fluoride from their water supplies, while other municipalities are currently debating similar measures.
A recent federal court ruling required the US Environmental Protection Agency to establish regulations for fluoride levels in drinking water, citing concerns that excessive amounts could potentially harm children's cognitive development.
