The death toll from a deadly Indonesian landslide that struck Central Java continued to rise on Sunday, with authorities confirming 11 fatalities. 12 people are still missing, as search and rescue teams are working around the clock in the Cilacap area, where the disaster struck last week.

M. Abdullah, head of the Search and Rescue Office in Cilacap, said efforts remain focused on locating the missing residents. He told reporters that his teams are determined to complete the operation. “Hopefully, all 12 victims who are still buried can be found,” he said, according to the local broadcaster Kompas TV.

Rescue teams have mobilized significant resources in the Central Java landslide zone. "We have deployed 21 excavators, 17 compressor support tools, nine search dogs, and more than 600 personnel," Abdullah said. The difficult terrain and unstable ground continue to slow down progress.

The landslide struck on Thursday, leaving families waiting for news as operations continue.
On Friday, Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency reported 20 people missing and three fatalities. Since then, more victims have been found, but officials warn the number may rise as searches continue.
