Ukrainian Flight Attendants Ditch the High Heels
Ukraine’s airline, SkyUp, ditches high heels and skirts for female flight attendants for loose trousers and white Nike Airs.
Ukraine’s low-cost airline, SkyUp, ditched high heels and skirts for female flight attendants and replaced them with loose trousers and white Nike Airs.
The airline designed the new uniform in collaboration with Ukrainian fashion brand GUDU.
Away from social norms, the flight attendants are now allowed to wear a light trench coat or a silk handkerchief to have a more comfortable flight.
The new style also ditched the traditional tight bun, allowing hostesses to let their hair down with natural-looking makeup, or using shades of orange and sunset blue (the airline’s trademark colors).
“Professional flight attendants first appeared almost 100 years ago. During this period, a lot has changed, and most importantly, women have changed,” SkyUp said on their Facebook page. They added, “[The transformation] requires a new vision of the profession and revolutionary changes. Now, we are initiating these changes.”
“The form is created for the active, bold, and bright; those who do not like superfluous officialdom, but appreciate style […] These are clothes for those who are open to new things, those who love travel and life,” said the airline in a statement on its website.
