Hamas announced that the head of its political bureau in the Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Hayya, led the funeral prayer for his martyred son and several others who were martyred in the Israeli aggression on Doha. The prayer was held following special security arrangements in Qatar.
The martyrs, in addition to al-Hayya’s son Hammad, included his chief of staff, Jihad Labad, Abdullah Abdulwahid, Moamen Hassouna, and Ahmad al-Mamlouk, who served as his bodyguards, as well as Badr Saad Mohammad al-Humaidi, a member of Qatar’s internal security forces.
A funeral procession was held in Doha the previous day, attended by the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, along with several ministers, senior officials, and a large number of citizens and residents of Qatar.
Hamas: A heinous crime and a threat to sovereignty
Hamas strongly condemned the strike, describing it as a "heinous crime" and "blatant act of aggression" that violated both international law and Qatari sovereignty. The movement said the strike was a "treacherous attempt by the Zionist occupation to assassinate the Hamas negotiating delegation in Doha."
While senior Hamas leaders survived the assassination attempt, the movement emphasized that the attack was not limited to Hamas members but constituted "an aggression against the sovereignty of the State of Qatar," which, along with Egypt, has played a central role in sponsoring ceasefire negotiations and mediating a prisoner exchange deal.
Hamas accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately sabotaging diplomatic efforts. It linked the strike to ongoing negotiations, stating that the attack occurred just as the delegation was discussing the latest US proposal. "This confirms beyond any doubt that Netanyahu and his government do not want to reach any agreement," the movement stated.
Despite the losses, Hamas reaffirmed that the attempt on its leadership would not alter its stance or demands, which include an immediate cessation of aggression, withdrawal from Gaza, a genuine prisoner exchange, humanitarian relief, and the reconstruction of Gaza.
Hamas also held the US administration jointly responsible, citing Washington’s continued support for "Israeli" actions. The group characterized the strike as further proof that "the Zionist occupation is a grave threat to the region and the world," accusing Netanyahu of pursuing a policy of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement.
