An American Airlines flight caught fire on the ground at Denver International Airport on Thursday evening, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed.
Flight 1006, a Boeing 737-800, had taken off from Colorado Springs Airport headed for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport but was diverted to Denver after the crew reported engine vibrations.

The FAA stated, "After landing and while taxiing to the gate, an engine caught fire, and passengers evacuated the aircraft using the slides."
A total of 172 passengers and six crew members were safely deplaned and moved to the terminal, according to the airport.
