At least 14 people dead from deadly tornado in Mississippi
Search and rescue efforts remain underway in the counties of Sharkey and Humphreys, as this area of the US in which Mississippi lies is home to frequent tornadoes.
Citing Mississippi authorities, ABC News confirmed on Saturday that at least 14 people are dead as the result of a destructive tornado that hit the US state of Mississippi.
Damage for more than 100 miles has been left due to the tornado, and search and rescue efforts remain underway in the counties of Sharkey and Humphreys.

"Many in the MS Delta need your prayer and God's protection tonight," Governor Tate Reeves said on Twitter on Saturday. "We have activated medical support -- surging more ambulances and other emergency assets for those affected. Search and rescue is active."

“What we found was devastation all around us,” Mayor Eldridge Walker said.
The National Weather Service issued an alert saying: "To protect your life, TAKE COVER NOW!"
“You are in a life-threatening situation,” it warned, further saying, "Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles is likely and complete destruction is possible."
This area of the US in which Mississippi lies is home to frequent tornadoes. Back in January, seven people were killed after a tornado hit Alabama and Mississippi.
