Authorities have retrieved the remains of three small children and a woman thought to be their mother from a Minnesota lake, and the murders are being investigated as a triple murder-suicide.
Meanwhile, the corpse of the children's father was discovered hours earlier at a separate site. As of Saturday afternoon, no names have been disclosed. The children were two boys and one girl, all under the age of five.
The man's body was discovered at a mobile home park in Maplewood, Minnesota, near Minneapolis, on Friday morning. Police established that the lady had fled with the children and launched a search.
According to Maplewood Police Lt. Joe Steiner, the woman's automobile was discovered near Vadnais Lake at approximately 4 pm Friday. The children's shoes were discovered on the beach.
The corpse of the first kid was found on the lake at approximately 7:30 pm Friday, according to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office. The body of the second kid was discovered just after midnight. The woman's body was discovered at 10:40 am Saturday, and the third child's body was discovered around 11 am.
The bodies were brought to be examined by a medical examiner.
According to a news release, “The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating this incident as a possible triple murder-suicide."
The Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher stated at a news conference Friday that “there’s nothing more tragic than the loss of young children."
