California sheriff deputy killed by previously incarcerated shooter
The suspect is William Shae McKay, 44, of San Bernardino County.
A California sheriff’s deputy was fatally shot and killed on the city of Jurupa Valley on Thursday as he tried to make a traffic stop on a man with a criminal history, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said at an evening news conference on Friday.
The suspect later died on a freeway during a manhunt shortly after the deputy whom he shot, Isaiah Cordero, died at the age of 32.
The man was reportedly pulled over by Cordero arond 2 pm in Jurupa Valley, east Los Angeles, and as the sheriff approached the vehicle, the man quickly pulled out a gun and shot Cordeo to death.
Bystanders who saw what had happened quickly called 911 to rush to the scene, but he was later pronounced dead after being transferred to hospital.
The shooter was later found in San Bernardino county and was hunted down by dozens of Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol cars chasing the truck on a freeway.
