China: 14 killed in construction site landslide
Rescuers reported deaths and injuries in a landslide at a construction site in southwest China.
According to state media, at least 14 people were killed in a landslide at a construction site in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Tuesday.
The landslide occurred on Monday evening while workers were reinforcing a hillside, China's state news agency Xinhua reported. Rescuers discovered 14 bodies and three injured people, with the cause of the accident "still under investigation."
Rescue efforts have been "completed", with the three injured currently in stable condition, the agency reported.
State media photos showed rescue crews working overnight under floodlights, with masses of debris and crushed machinery visible.
Construction and industrial accidents are not uncommon in China.
Two workers were killed and twenty others were rescued from a flooded coal mine in Shanxi Province in December.
In July, 14 workers were killed in Guangdong Province, south China, when a tunnel they were constructing flooded.
