Two pilots in a crashing plane in Iran refused to eject in order to prevent the aircraft from crashing into a residential building. The two died in the crash.
According to the director of the Tabriz Red Crescent Society, the plane hit the wall of a school, “which was fortunately closed."
Director-General of Crisis Management in East Azerbaijan Province, Mohammad Baqer Honarbar said at the site of the crash that the plane, an F5 training aircraft, crashed at around 9 am in Tabriz, the provincial capital.
“Unfortunately, one citizen was also killed in this incident,” Honarbar said.
Since the jet was crashing into a residential neighborhood, the pilots refused to eject in order to steer it away from the neighborhood, giving their lives to prevent a worst-case scenario.
