McDonald's mistakenly gives customer $5,000 in a bag instead of a meal

This marks the second time the fast food chain does that, after a couple in 2013 in Tennessee were given cash instead of breakfast.

A TikTok video of a man who was given stacks of cash rather than his to-go meal from McDonald's has garnered more than 891,000 views and 205,000 likes.

In the video, Josiah Vargas says: "What's in this bag? Their f**king deposits... Just a couple thousand dollars here. Like, what is this? Why would they do this?.... Now I have to return this because I'm a good person, I guess".

Vargas did not name the location of the fast food chain and did stick to his word by returning the money. In return, McDonald's gave him free meals for a month and $200 as a thank-you gesture.

"They were just all hugging me and thanking me and crying, and I get free McDonald's for a month," Vargas expressed, after handing back the $5,000 in the bag.

'A McRipoff'

Shockingly, in another video, Vargas admitted going back to the same McDonald's but they had no clue who he was.

'They put my name down and my number, and I had to pay for my two McChickens and a Sprite, which is fine. I'm not too worried about it,' he stated, with one TikTok user adding: "That's a McRipoff!"

This isn't the first time. In 2013, a couple, Greg and Stacye Terry, ordering a meal at a Tennessee McDonald's were also given a bag full of cash. The bag was supposed to be deposited in the bank but was given at the drive-in window instead, and the couple noticed banknotes in the to-go bag but they returned the bag immediately.

"My husband opened the bag and discovered the money inside," Stacye told NewsChannel5. "He said, 'You are not going to believe this.' Sure enough, it was their bank deposit money."

"The second that he said it was their deposit, my first thing was let's get in the truck and take it back," said Stacye. "There is no other way to have it. I couldn't live with myself."
