Miss Switzerland finalist pureed in blender by husband
Her body was discovered on February 13 and investigators reported the official cause of death as strangulation, something the husband admitted to.
A former Miss Switzerland contestant was reportedly murdered and mutilated with a jigsaw and garden shears before being pureed in a blender by her spouse.
The corpse of 38-year-old model Kristina Joksimovic was discovered in February in Binningen, near Basel, Switzerland.
Her husband, who was only identified by the pseudonym Thomas in local media, had his plea for release from jail denied today by the Federal Court in Lausanne after admitting to killing her.
A continuing inquiry found Thursday that the case had "concrete indications of mental illness."
The husband claimed he acted in self-defense after being attacked with a knife. He then allegedly said he dismembered the mother of his two children "in a panic."
Her body was discovered on February 13 and investigators reported the official cause of death as strangulation, something he admitted to.
An autopsy determined that the corpse was dissected in the laundry room using a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears.
According to local news outlet Blick, body parts were broken up with a hand blender, 'pureed', and dissolved in a chemical solution.
According to Swiss broadcaster FM1 Today, a medical-forensic study "contradicts his description of self-defense."
One friend expressed shock, telling Blick "they seemed like the perfect family," while another reported months of crisis, with police being called out ahead of time due to accusations of physical abuse.
According to a police evaluation, Thomas had a "conspicuously high level of criminal energy."
They noted his lack of empathy and "cold-bloodedness after killing his wife" as well as his attempts to conceal her death, and said that he possessed "sadistic-sociopathic traits."
Kristina, a Binningen native with Serbian heritage, allegedly left modeling to become a catwalk instructor and prepared Miss Switzerland hopefuls to follow in her footsteps.
The victim won the Miss Northwest Switzerland pageant in 2003 and was a finalist in the 2008 Miss Switzerland competition, opening a coaching and consultancy firm for aspiring models while continuing to work full-time in IT recruiting.
