More than 5 propane tanks explode in Vancouver, 'environment not safe'
Vancouver Fire Rescue Service Assistant Chief Jarret Gray confirms that fire crews were able to immediately put out the fire after it spread to the side of the adjacent building.
Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside witnessed on Sunday multiple propane tanks explode inside a tent, which left an adjacent building's side damaged.
In a video posted from a camera surveillance footage, one tank exploded then the second a minute later, followed by a third, fourth, and fifth explosion. Two minutes after the first explosion, the firefighting crews arrive.

“The fire did not get into the building as the crews knocked it down quickly, but the sprinklers were activated inside the building, causing vast water damage inside the building,” Gray concluded.

During the inspection, the crew found seven propane tanks each weighing 25 pounds, in addition to one weighing 100 pounds which was found actively releasing propane gas after it had its pressure release valve open.
