Local US authorities reported that one person was murdered and four people were injured in a shooting at a Memphis junction on Sunday.

After a shooting erupted in the city's Westwood neighborhood at about 5 am, police were called to a hospital, where the five injured victims were transferred in a personal vehicle.

At Methodist South Hospital, one person died. Two of the four other injured were sent to another hospital for treatment.

The Commercial Appeal revealed that the Memphis Police Department did not immediately identify any suspects or provide any other information regarding the shooting.

It is worth noting that the overflow of weapons in the United States and soaring shootings caused several killings only a few days apart.

This comes a day after two men were killed and three other people were injured in a second shooting outside a mourning ceremony in  St. Paul, Minnesota, last weekend.

Mass shootings in the United States are on the rise, with Gun Violence Archive reporting that there have been more than 70 mass shootings so far this year.

Recently, the United States has been rocked by a succession of high-profile mass shootings, including in schools, churches, grocery stores, and hospitals. The incidents have collectively left dozens dead.
