Plane with 6 people aboard crashes into Northeast Philly neighborhood
A small medical jet crashes in Northeast Philadelphia Friday evening, igniting an explosion and setting homes on fire.
A small jet went down Friday evening shortly after departing from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, according to officials.
The FAA reported that a Learjet 55, carrying six people, crashed at approximately 6:30 pm. The aircraft was headed to Springfield-Branson Airport in Missouri when it went down.
The officials said that the FAA and NTSB would investigate.
That mentioned, Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, a medical flight company, stated on LinkedIn that one of its Learjets crashed Friday evening after departing from Philadelphia.

According to the company's statement, the aircraft carried a pediatric patient, an escort, and four crew members.
The statement said, "Our immediate concern is for the patient's family, our personnel, their families, and other victims that may have been hurt on the ground."
Mayor Cherelle Parker said at a press briefing that several homes and vehicles "were impacted" by the crash.

First responders secured the area around the crash site, establishing a perimeter. Parker described it as an "active scene" and urged residents to stay away and report any debris to authorities.
Philadelphia's Office of Emergency Management announced that Cottman Avenue, between Roosevelt Boulevard and Bustleton Avenue, will remain closed for an extended period.
Mayor Parker also stated that Governor Josh Shapiro was en route to the crash site.
The state is "offering all Commonwealth resources as they respond to the small private plane crash in Northeast Philly," Shapiro said on X.
