The toll comes after a 32-year-old shooter opened fire on a residence and a hospital in Rotterdam on Thursday.
Dutch police have announced the death of three people after a 32-year-old shooter opened fire on a residence and a university hospital in Rotterdam on Thursday.
The police told reporters that the shooter, who acted alone, was apprehended and the motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
Police confirmed on social media that the shooting took place at the Rotterdam Medical Centre and a residence, also stating that fires broke out at both locations. A press conference is being organized by local officials as well.
The man first burst into a house in the Dutch port city and opened fire, killing a 39-year-old woman and seriously injuring her 14-year-old daughter, police chief Fred Westerbeke told reporters. The girl later died of her injuries.

According to Dutch news ANP, police officers went into the hospital university looking for additional victims or people who may be hiding.
Police were seen telling students, some of whom were dressed in medical gowns, to escape outside as highly armed arrest squads came in. In one video, a man wearing what seemed to be camouflage trousers was handcuffed.
Two hours later, authorities said there had been several deaths and that victims' families had been notified.
"This is a very dark day," the caretaker Minister of Justice and Security Dilan Yesilgöz was quoted by the newspaper de Telegraaf as saying.
