Two bikers found dead after they got hit by lightning
An Italian CEO and his Luxembourgish friend lose their lives after they get hit by lightning near the Piedmont area in Italy.
The Italian la Repubblica newspaper reported that two bike riders were struck by lightning and died in the Piedmont area of northern Italy.
One of the two men was Alberto Balocco, president and CEO of the confectionery industry started in 1972 by his ancestors, while the other was his Luxembourgish friend who joined him on a mountain bike ride when the tragic incident took place.
On Friday, according to the newspaper, the local mountain rescue service accompanied by a helicopter rescue team arrived in the municipality of Pragelato after being notified by a car driver who found the bodies of two men on the road.
Lightning strikes pose an often underestimated danger during storm events, which are currently hitting Italy from north to south.
