The al-Zaytoun neighborhood east of Gaza City has witnessed extensive environmental damage caused by the Israeli occupation state, with approximately 55,000 trees uprooted and nine public parks, including a zoo, destroyed, according to the local municipality's announcement on Tuesday.

During the early stages of the Israeli aggression-turned-genocide against the Gaza Strip, occupation forces injured zoo workers attempting to access the facility. Moreover, the delivery of animal feed was obstructed, leading to animals being starved.

The affected zoo, spanning four dunums, housed around 100 animals, children's playgrounds, seating areas for visitors, and the park management building.

In response to the environmental devastation, the local council has called on international environmental organizations and concerned bodies to swiftly intervene, urging them to condemn the occupation's environmental crimes, assist in the reconstruction of damaged facilities, protect trees and wildlife, and provide essential resources like food and water.

Day 147: 30,228 martyred, 71,377 injured in Gaza

As the war marks its 147th day, the Israeli occupation forces, in the past 24 hours, have committed 16 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in a devastating toll.

As a result of those massacres, the Gaza Health Ministry reports 193 martyrs and 920 injuries in the past 24 hours alone.

It is important to note that due to the devastation caused by the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip, some victims remain trapped under rubble and on the roads, with the Israeli occupation hindering the arrival of ambulances and civil defense teams to provide urgent assistance.

This alarming escalation brings the total toll of the Israeli aggression to a staggering 30,228 martyrs and 71,377 injuries since October 7th of last year.
