'Israel' conducting attacks akin to a terrorist organization: Erdogan
The Turkish President accuses Netanyahu and his entourage of resorting to all kinds of provocations.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the Israeli attacks in Lebanon, pointing out that these actions validate Turkiye’s concerns regarding "Israel’s" broader ambitions to expand war across the region.
Speaking to the press in Istanbul on Saturday before departing for New York, where he is set to address the UN General Assembly, Erdogan accused "Israel" of conducting attacks akin to a terrorist organization.
"With this attack (pager explosions in Lebanon), Israel demonstrated it has no civilian sensitivities, it can use any means to achieve its hateful ambitions," he indicated, as quoted by Anadolu Agency.
According to the Turkish leader, the assault further indicates "Israel's" intent to escalate its attacks throughout Lebanon and the wider region, supported by certain Western nations.
Erdogan warned that the region is now grappling with an "inexplicably huge crisis," urging the international community, particularly Western nations, to "stop watching Israel's heinous actions and take deterrent steps."
Ahead of his September 24 speech at the UN General Assembly, the Turkish President said he will present Turkiye's perspectives "on the issues on the agenda of our region and humanity."
"I will specifically address the common actions that can be taken against the genocide in Gaza and Israel's aggressive policies," he added.
Erdogan underscored the critical responsibility of the international community, particularly the UN, to halt Israeli aggression in Gaza, establish a permanent ceasefire, and ensure the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid.
"We will remind our interlocutors of these once again during our visit," he said.
The Turkish leader accused Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his entourage of resorting "to all kinds of provocations and incitement to implement their radical Zionist ideology."
"The escalating attacks and harassment against al-Aqsa Mosque, our first qiblah, are each a part of the same dirty scenario. As Türkiye, we have repeatedly expressed the level of our sensitivity on this issue," Erdogan underlined.
He reiterated that "pressure on Israel must be increased further to prevent our region from being dragged into a massive catastrophe."
