"Israel" fears an intifada in the West Bank: Israeli media

Israeli media reports suggest that there is apprehension within the security and military institutions of the occupying entity regarding the potential of a third front opening up with the outbreak of an intifada in the West Bank.

Israeli media has conveyed growing apprehension within Israeli security and military institutions regarding the potential outbreak of an intifada in the West Bank.

Shirit Avitan Cohen, the diplomatic affairs correspondent and political analyst for the newspaper Israel Hayom reported that during a meeting on Tuesday with the heads of settlement councils in the West Bank, additional insights into "Israel's" readiness for any escalation on a third front, beyond Gaza and Lebanon, were disclosed.

Cohen indicated that the anticipated scenario involves "an intifada in the heart of Israel against the settlers," revealing heightened concerns and preparations within Israeli circles for potential unrest in the region.

Sources involved in evaluating the situation have indicated that there is an expectation for individuals to carry out operations against settlers on the streets. This heightened concern is fueled by the absence of over 100,000 Palestinian workers from the West Bank, who have refrained from entering "Israel" since the Jewish holidays.

Additionally, the situation is compounded by the Palestinian Authority security forces, who are not expected to receive their salaries. This predicament arises from President Mahmoud Abbas' refusal to accept Palestinian Authority funds from "Israel" due to the deduction of the allocated amount for Gaza.

According to the Israeli analyst, "While there has been a certain decrease in alerts about armed operations in the West Bank, attributed to the heightened military activities in the region, the scenario that security and military institutions are actively preparing for extends far beyond the scope of organized armed operations."

Similarly, Cohen affirmed that in "Israel," there is recognition of the West Bank posing "a tangible and real threat" to two ongoing missions of the Israeli forces: "the mission in the south aimed at addressing Hamas and the mission in the north against Hezbollah".

She explained that the emergence of a third front would inevitably result in a reduction of Israeli forces in both the northern and southern sectors, impacting the tasks assigned to them. Israeli officials express genuine concern, noting that in the West Bank, settlers are apprehensive as a considerable number of men have been conscripted for reserve service, consequently leading to "a decline in settler protection".

It is noteworthy that confrontations are intensifying in the occupied West Bank between resistance fighters and the Israeli occupation forces, concurrently with the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Earlier this week, the Lions' Den group in occupied Palestine announced that it had carried out more than 14 shooting operations in Nablus and surrounding cities.

The Lions' Den confirmed in a message to the leaders Mohammad al-Deif and Saleh al-Arouri and all the resistance leaders that “the West Bank will only be a sword and a shield for you, God willing.”

The group addressed whoever said the resistance was left alone in Gaza: “The resistance will stand victorious, and you will be dishonored and humiliated.”
