'Israel' impeding ceasefire effort every single time: Hamas official
Hamas official Osama Hamdan asserts that the Israeli occupation has been the party impeding ceasefire efforts every single time during negotiations.
Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan asserted that the Palestinian people continue to stand resilient in the face of Israeli aggression, describing their actions as "a heroic epic on the path to liberating Palestine." Speaking to Al Mayadeen on Sunday, Hamdan emphasized that "each time a ceasefire agreement fails to materialize, it is due to the Israeli occupation's obstruction."
Hamdan condemned the ongoing atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation, noting that these acts are carried out "in partnership with the United States and some Western countries."
He accused the Israeli occupation forces of weaponizing starvation tactics in northern Gaza as part of a brutal "generals' plan," stating that these measures "reveal the true, Nazi-like nature of this occupation."
Addressing recent unrest in Amsterdam, Hamdan warned that "if the ongoing holocaust and extermination in Gaza proceed without international intervention, such events may recur worldwide."
Hamdan called on the upcoming Arab-Islamic summit to take decisive action to "halt the aggression against our people, lift the siege, and ensure the delivery of aid." He urged for support of the Palestinian right to an independent state with al-Quds as its capital.
Arab-Islamic summit
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan announced the summit in late October, during the first meeting of an "international alliance" pushing for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Attendees will "discuss the continued Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories and the Lebanese Republic, and the current developments in the region," the official Saudi Press Agency said on Sunday.
Arab and Muslim leaders have begun arriving in Saudi Arabia for a summit scheduled for Monday that will focus on the Israeli occupation's wars on Gaza and Lebanon, Saudi state media said Sunday.
It comes one year after a similar gathering in Riyadh of the Cairo-based Arab League and the Jeddah-based Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during which leaders condemned Israeli forces' actions in Gaza as "barbaric".
Continuing aggression on Gaza
Hamdan condemned continued US military support for the Israeli occupation, holding Washington "morally and humanely responsible for the crimes being committed in Gaza." He also praised "the heroic actions of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon" for its defiance against Israeli forces, alongside commending support from Yemen and Iraq's resistance in backing the Palestinian people.
The death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen to 43,603 martyrs, with 102,929 injured since October 7, 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry announced on Sunday.
In its daily report on the 401st day of the war, the Ministry confirmed that the Israeli occupation military has committed three massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, with 51 martyrs and 164 injured reaching hospitals in the past 24 hours.
