At least 322 children have been killed and 609 have been injured in the Gaza Strip in the last ten days following the breakdown of the ceasefire in Gaza, the UN children's fund (UNICEF) announced on Monday.

"The ceasefire in Gaza provided a desperately needed lifeline for Gaza's children and hope for a path to recovery," UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell stated.

"Children have again been plunged into a cycle of deadly violence and deprivation. All parties must adhere to their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect children," she stated.

According to UNICEF, the majority of the children killed were homeless and were living in improvised tents or destroyed houses.

The agency also said that children were among those killed and injured when the surgical section of Al-Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza was bombed on March 23.

The start of Israeli bombardments, combined with a total embargo of supplies since March 2, has put Gaza's inhabitants, notably its one million children, in grave danger, according to UNICEF.

"With no aid allowed into the Gaza Strip since March 2 - the longest period of blockage since the war began - food, safe water, shelter, and medical care have become increasingly scarce," the organization warned, adding that needless child fatalities will certainly surge.

UNICEF also called for an end to hostilities, the resumption of the truce, and the entry of humanitarian and commercial supplies into Gaza.

"The world must not stand by and allow the killing and suffering of children to continue," the agency emphasized, urging influential nations to call for an end to the violence and guarantee that international law is followed.

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has reported that hospitals received 42 martyrs, including one body recovered from the rubble, and 183 injuries in Gaza in 24 hours as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression.

Since "Israel" renewed its aggression on the Strip on March 18, 2025, completely shattering the ceasefire, the toll has climbed to 1,042 martyrs and 2,542 injuries. The cumulative toll of the genocide since October 7, 2023, has now climbed to 50,399 martyrs and 114,583 injuries, according to the latest figures from Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Meanwhile, the international community continues to silently monitor the devastating situation as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza intensifies with each passing day.
