Another Palestinian dies in Israeli prison 2 days after IOF detention
Just two days after he was shot by the IOF and taken away on a stretcher, Walid Khalifa died in Israeli prison, adding to a list of dozens of Palestinians who met a similar fate.
A young Palestinian man, Walid Ahmad Khalifa, died in an Israeli detention center two days after being shot and detained by Israeli forces during a raid on his family home in the al-Ain refugee camp, Nablus, located in the occupied West Bank
The Commission of Detainees' and Ex-Detainees' Affairs, along with the Palestinian Prisoners' Society (PPS), confirmed the 30-year-old's death in a joint statement on Saturday.
Khalifa was reportedly shot when Israeli occupation forces stormed his home last Thursday, and his family witnessed him being carried away on a stretcher as he called out for them. They noted that Khalifa remained conscious and aware throughout the ordeal.
His family, however, has now lost two sons to Israeli forces—Walid's brother, Amir, was assassinated in August 2023, while another brother, Khaled, is currently held under administrative detention, meaning he was never tried nor charged for any crime.
Walid's death part of broader pattern of violence
Palestinian rights groups have condemned the death as part of "Israel's" broader pattern of violence targeting Palestinians.
Both organizations held the Israeli regime fully responsible, linking Khalifa's death to the Israeli occupation's long-standing policy of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories. They emphasized that his death comes amid the intensification of Israeli aggression in the West Bank and Gaza.
Human rights groups have called for international action, pointing out the growing violence against Palestinians. They underscored that the impunity granted to Israeli forces had allowed such acts to escalate, urging international human rights organizations to hold the Israeli occupation accountable.
Since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, Israeli forces have reportedly detained more than 10,800 Palestinians from the West Bank.
Over 700 Palestinians, including 160 children, have been killed in Israeli raids and settler attacks in the West Bank alone.
Friday confrontations
Israeli occupation forces were forced to withdraw from Balata Refugee Camp, east of Nablus in the occupied West Bank on Friday after fierce confrontations with Palestinian resistance fighters.
Field sources in the West Bank confirmed that Resistance fighters targeted the invading occupation forces in Balata Camp with highly explosive IEDs and engaged in intense confrontations with the forces.
The al-Quds Brigades - Nablus Battalion announced that its fighters in Balata fought fierce battles with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in several combat zones.
The Brigades' fighters targeted the occupation’s military reinforcements on al-Quds Street with bursts of gunfire and attacked infantry and military vehicles with direct fire, achieving confirmed hits.
Similarly, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades – Nablus announced that its fighters confronted the IOF in Balata Camp, engaging in fierce confrontations using machine guns and explosive devices.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades fighters also detonated several highly explosive Zoufi IEDs on the invading enemy’s vehicles and troops in Balata Camp, achieving direct hits.
It is worth noting that the occupied West Bank has been witnessing daily confrontations, which have escalated since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. Towns and cities face daily raids, accompanied by wide-scale detention campaigns.
