The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that the number of journalists killed since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli aggression has risen to 246, following the death of Palestinian journalist Hassan Douhan.
Dohan, who worked for Al-Hayat Al-Jadida newspaper, was shot and killed by the Israeli occupation forces in the Mawasi Khan Younis area in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the statement.
The media office strongly condemned the continued targeting and killing of Palestinian journalists. It urged the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all international press organizations to publicly denounce these crimes, which it stressed were systematic and deliberate.
The statement held the Israeli occupation, along with the US administration and allied countries such as Britain, Germany, and France, fully responsible for these ongoing and brutal violations of international law.
The office called on the international community, as well as institutions concerned with media and press freedoms, to take immediate and concrete steps to deter the occupation from continuing its attacks against journalists.
It also demanded that relevant international bodies work to prosecute those responsible, ensure the protection of media workers in the Gaza Strip, and bring an end to what it described as the crime of assassinating and targeting journalists.

This comes after the Israeli occupation carried out a massacre at the Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza on Monday, striking the facility twice and killing at least 20 Palestinians, including five journalists and members of the civil defense who were targeted in the second strike as they rushed to aid victims of the first.
