UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, issued Monday an urgent appeal to the international community to act swiftly to end the ongoing carnage in the Gaza Strip.
Her statement came after the Israeli occupation carried out a massacre at the Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza, striking the facility twice and killing at least 20 Palestinians, including five journalists and members of the civil defense who were targeted in the second strike as they rushed to aid victims of the first.

Albanese described the situation in Gaza as unfolding “every moment” with “scenes like this,” noting that many such incidents remain unseen and undocumented.
Taking to X, Albanese made a direct plea to governments worldwide: “I beg STATES: how much more must be witnessed before you act to stop this carnage?”
She also reiterated long-standing calls for concrete international measures, including an immediate end to the blockade of Gaza, a comprehensive arms embargo on the Israeli regime, and the imposition of targeted international sanctions on "Israel".
Albanese emphasized that continued global inaction only serves to prolong the violence and embolden further Israeli violations against civilians in Gaza.

Calls for accountability on the rise as 'Israel's' crimes continue
Following the attack, the Government Media Office in Gaza announced that the number of journalists martyred since the beginning of the genocidal war on the Strip has risen to 245.
The journalists killed were identified as:
- Hossam al-Masri, photojournalist with Reuters
- Mohammed Salama, photojournalist with Al Jazeera
- Maryam Abu Daqa, journalist with multiple outlets, including Independent Arabia and AP
- Moaz Abu Taha, correspondent with NBC News
- Ahmad Abu Aziz, journalist with Quds Feed Network
The media office described the killings as a “horrific crime” against press workers, noting that the journalists were killed while covering events at the hospital when occupation forces bombed the area.
The Foreign Press Association subsequently issued a sharp condemnation following the killing of the five journalists, demanding "an immediate explanation from the Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli prime minister's office. We call on Israel once and for all to halt its abhorrent practice of targeting journalists."
The association has long expressed concern over the growing number of casualties among media workers in Gaza and the broader erosion of press freedom in the occupied Palestinian territories.
