The number of journalists killed by "Israel" has now reached 240 since the beginning of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, following the death of photojournalist Khaled Muhammad al-Madhoun, who worked for Palestine TV, according to a statement from the territory's Government Media Office.

The office strongly condemned the systematic targeting, killing, and assassination of journalists by the occupation, calling on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and all press bodies around the world to condemn these systematic crimes.

In its statement on Saturday, the office held the Israeli occupation, the US administration, and countries complicit in the genocide, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for these horrific and brutal crimes.

The Gaza Government Media Office called on the international community, international organizations, and all bodies related to journalism and media worldwide to condemn the occupation's crimes, to work toward restraining it, to pursue its prosecution in international courts, and to bring its forces to justice.

Furthermore, the office urged these entities to apply serious and effective pressure to halt the genocidal war, protect journalists and media workers in the Gaza Strip, and put an end to their targeted killing and assassination.

'Israel' strives to silence Gaza

This comes as the latest chapter in "Israel's" systematic murder of the truth in Gaza, killing journalists in targeted strikes and attacks, most recently murdering Palestinian journalist Anas al-Sharif, as well as Mohammad Qraiqea and photojournalists Mohammad Nawfal and Ibrahim Daher.

To further solidify this burial of the truth, "Israel" continues to ban foreign journalists from entering Gaza, going as far as barring Sky News from taking aerial footage of the enclave during an aid drop on the Strip. According to Sky News correspondent Sally Lockwood, "Israel" cautioned the channel's team that any aerial shots taken of Gaza would lead to a cancellation of the aid air drops.

Before his death, journalist al-Sharif had been the target of an Israeli incitement campaign that falsely accused him of being a member of Hamas' armed wing and of participating in rocket launching operations, accusations he denied as completely false.

The death toll of journalists in Gaza has reached levels unprecedented in warfare, with more journalists killed than in the entirety of both World Wars, the Vietnam War, the Afghanistan War, and the Yugoslavian War combined.
