'Israel' lost deterrence, became 'beaten, humiliated': Ex-general
Israeli Brigadier General (Res.) Guy Hazut says "at least half of Hamas' members are still alive, while dozens of Israelis remain captive."
"Israel" has lost its deterrence and has become "the beaten and humiliated kid among the children in the Middle East," indicated Israeli Brigadier General (Res.) Guy Hazut, as cited by the Israeli news website Yedioth Ahronoth.
Speaking at the Reserve Officers and Fighters Forum conference, Hazut stressed that the "most serious failure" since October 7 lies in the management of the war on Gaza.
He pointed out that "anyone wanting to humiliate Israel launches something," referencing the various missile and drone attacks launched toward "Israel" from Iran, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq.
Regarding the failure in managing the war on Gaza, Hazut considered that "Israel was asleep" during the Palestinian Resistance's attack on the Gaza Envelope settlements on October 7 and that the occupation entity was "caught by surprise and slapped in the face" at the time.
Discussing the situation in Gaza, the Israeli Brigadier General (Res.) mentioned that "at least half of Hamas' members are still alive, while dozens of Israelis remain captive."
He highlighted that hundreds of Palestinian Resistance commanders in Gaza continue to operate and are working to rehabilitate Hamas across vast areas, extending from the al-Shati refugee camp to large areas between Khan Younis and Rafah in the south.
Hazut also acknowledged a shortage of ammunition and equipment, including artillery shells and tanks within the Israeli military, warning that "Israel is not capable of doing everything in the Middle East."
Addressing the investigations conducted by the Israeli military regarding the failures in the war, Hazut revealed that the military investigation system "is bankrupt", adding that one of the greatest dangers facing the military is that its investigations are no longer credible.
Three Israeli soldiers killed, six injured in 'serious' Gaza security incident
In a related context, the Israeli Army Radio reported on Friday, that the number of Israeli soldiers killed in Gaza since the start of the war has risen to 695, and those wounded 4,357, including 645 with severe injuries and 185 still receiving treatment.
This comes as Israeli media earlier confirmed that three additional Israeli soldiers were killed and six others were injured in a "serious security incident in Gaza."
The media mentioned that an Israeli military unit was caught in an ambush in the Strip, adding that helicopters were evacuating several soldiers and officers to hospitals.
