'Israel' recruiting Res. Air Force soldiers fearing Iran retaliation
The Israeli occupation forces are recruiting reserve members of the Israeli air force out of fear that Iran would retaliate for the strike targeting its consulate in Damascus.
The Israeli occupation forces announced that they would recruit reservists from the Air Force in fear of retaliation from Iran over the attack on its consulate in Damascus, Syria, Israeli channel 13 reported on Wednesday.
After a security assessment, an IOF spokesperson said, "The formations of the Air Defenses will be bolstered, including through recruiting reservists," Israeli Channel 13 reported.
Israeli Knesset member and former Israeli Security Minister Avigdor Lieberman criticized the attack on the Iranian consulate, underlining that while he did not know who was behind the decision to carry it out, "But if that person thinks the Iranians will back down or alter their agenda, they will not."
"We do not know what their response will be, where it would be, or how it would take place, but if I were a minister today, the first thing I would think about is the possibility of escalation," Lieberman stressed.
"The Iranians will not give up. They will not give up and they will not be fooled; we must remain on high alert. We know the Iranians," he added.
In an interview with Israeli radio station 103fm on Wednesday evening, Lieberman strongly criticized the members of the Israeli war cabinet. He said that no decision had been made by the cabinet in three months.
Lieberman said that since January, the Israeli occupation was supposed to have achieved operational control over the Gaza Strip, but in reality, it still has no operational control, and Hamas is in control.
He went on to stress that what was happening now inside the war cabinet was a power struggle for political reasons. He said, "This is not the way to run a war on Gaza."
The commander of the Iranian Islamic Revolution Guard Corps' Quds Force in Lebanon and Syria, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, was killed in an Israeli attack that targeted the Iranian consulate in Syria in the al-Mazzeh neighborhood, Damascus, Syria, on Monday afternoon, Syrian and Iranian state media reported.
