Commemorating the first anniversary of the Pager Attack, demonstrators marched through the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Wednesday from Ain al-Mreisseh to al-Manara.
The Israeli occupation forces detonated the pagers, targeting their carriers, on September 17 of last year, and then proceeded to detonate the walkie-talkies the following day, in a coordinated attack that killed dozens instantly and wounded thousands of others.
On November 10 of last year, the Israeli Prime Minister once again admitted his entity's responsibility for this crime, boasting that he had disregarded warnings and opposition from ministers in his own government, as well as from security and military officials, according to his own statement. Hezbollah is marking the first anniversary of the Pager Attack under the slogan: "We Have Recovered," which symbolizes the survivors' resilience in absorbing the profound shock of the attack and their unwavering determination to persist.
Hezbollah SG honors the victims
Marking the same occasion, Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassim, addressed the victims wounded in the attack, urging them to persevere, praising their resolve, and acknowledging that their injuries were very severe.
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah outlined three values embodied by the attack victims. The first is recovery, which he described as healing from their wounds, representing a successful passing of a divine test.
The second value is rising against all odds, noting that the wounded are moving forward with hope and a clear vision, guided by an inner insight far greater than mere sight.
The third value is perseverance. He stated that instead of being sidelined, the victims have engaged in life with greater resolve, pursuing education and work, encouraging them to see their actions as immensely significant, infused with spirit and sacrifice.
On September 17 and 18, 2024, "Israel" detonated thousands of booby-trapped pagers and walkie-talkies, respectively, across Lebanon, killing dozens and severely wounding over 3,400 individuals in one second, a lot of them in vital areas such as the face and eyes, with many losing limbs. A number of children and women were wounded as well.
The suddenness of the attack and the severity of the injuries threw the Lebanese healthcare system into a state of shock as it tried to accommodate all the casualties, many of whom were suffering from life-threatening injuries.
