The attack targeted an Iraqi army company in the Al-Tala'a area in Al-Azim, and a first lieutenant was among the martyrs.
The information directorate of the Popular Mobilization Forces pointed out that the forces destroyed an ISIS hostel and demined the area separating the provinces of Diyala and Saladin during raids and searches conducted by the PMF.
On Wednesday, the Commander of the Diyala operations sector of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Talib Al-Moussawi, announced the launch of a security operation to cleanse the Eastern Azim River Basin from terrorist presence.
A security operation was launched with the participation of (Brigade 23 and Brigade Nidaa Diyala in the Popular Mobilization) from the Azim Dam to the mouth of Nahr Al-Azim in the Tigris River in the village of Saffit.
The operation aims to prevent the infiltration of ISIS and tighten the siege on the group, as well as perform a raid and search of ISIS hostels, knowing that the operation will continue for two days until achieving its set goals.
