The Israeli occupation carries out airstrikes targeting areas in central Beirut, for the third time striking areas outside the scope of Beirut's Southern Suburb.

One Israeli occupation airstrike struck a residential building between the densely populated areas of Ras al-Nabaa and al-Nuwairi in the heart of Lebanon’s capital, Beirut. According to Al Mayadeen's correspondent, the airstrike targeted the third floor of an eight-story building, leading to multiple injuries, with many still trapped inside.

Ambulances rushed to the scene as fires raged and thick smoke billowed from the targeted building.

Shortly after the initial strike, Israeli occupation forces launched a second airstrike targeting the nearby Basta neighborhood, just meters from the first location. This raid struck a four-story building, which collapsed completely, according to reports from the site of the attack.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent confirmed that both strikes resulted in multiple casualties as many people remained trapped beneath the rubble. As such, the Lebanese Civil Defense teams continue their search and rescue efforts.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 22 were martyred and 117 were injured in the Israeli enemy attacks on Beirut.

UNIFIL sites come under Israeli attack; states, bodies slam assault

Earlier today, the United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that two of its soldiers were injured in South Lebanon after Israeli occupation forces opened fire on a UNIFIL observation post.

According to a statement issued by the UNIFIL, an Israeli occupation "Merkava tank fired its weapon toward an observation tower at UNIFIL’s headquarters in Naqoura." After the direct hit on the watchtower, "two peacekeepers were injured."

Moreover, the statement noted that the IOF "fired on UN position (UNP) 1-31 in Labbouneh, hitting the entrance to the bunker where peacekeepers were sheltering, and damaging vehicles and a communications system."

The statement also expressed that yesterday, October 9, the IOF "deliberately fired at and disabled the position’s perimeter-monitoring cameras" and also "deliberately fired on UNP 1-32A in Ras Naqoura, where regular Tripartite meetings were held before the conflict began, damaging lighting and a relay station."

UNIFIL further reminded Israeli occupation forces and other parties of their obligation to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property, emphasizing that any deliberate attack on peacekeeping forces constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent in South Lebanon also reported that Israeli occupation forces had targeted a UNIFIL site in al-Labouna with heavy weapons.
