Mehralizadeh to have relations with all countries, especially US, if he wins
Reformist candidate Mohsen Mehr Alizadeh asserts that he is open to cooperation with various countries of the world, except for those that "insist on staying anti-Iranian" if he wins the elections.
Reformist Iranian Presidential candidate Mohsen Mehralizadeh spoke with Al Mayadeen about his foreign policy towards the United States in case he wins the elections, saying that he will have relations with all the countries of the world "especially the United States while taking into account our national interests and preserving the pride and dignity of the Iranian people and the national security of our country."
He added that "there will be no restrictions in dealing with all countries of the world except for countries that insist on anti-Iran," noting that Iran "is a great country that possesses an ancient civilization, and hostile countries must respect Iran and the Iranians."
Regarding relations with Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries, Mehralizadeh told Al Mayadeen, "Our religion is one with the Arab world, and we have common borders with some Arab countries, and if external pressures do not affect the policies of these countries, we will have no problem with them."
He continued, "If I win in the upcoming elections, we, together, can maintain the security of the region, and we must prevent the presence of forces that seek to stir up sedition between us. There is no doubt that I will continue the policy of former President Mohammad Khatami in dealing with the Arab world and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
Mehralizadeh expressed his regret over the "non-competitive" atmosphere in the Iranian elections after the Guardian Council rejected the eligibility of a number of reformist candidates.
He called on the authority to invest any opportunity in order to preserve the republic in Iran, calling on the public of the reformist movement to participate in the elections and change the equation.
