Several major websites went down Tuesday, including the official UK government website and the websites of major social media and news outlets.
Among the sites affected are the sites of the British newspapers The Guardian and Financial Times, the American New York Times, the French Le Monde, and the multinational CNN and Bloomberg websites.
The websites displayed error messages at around 10:00 GMT.
No further details were reported, but the BBC said the problem could be caused by an outage cloud computing services provider Fastly, which many major websites use.
