Ebrahim Raisi 8th President of Iran
Iran officially announces the victory of Ebrahim Raisi in the presidential elections and reports a 48.8 percent turnout.
Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli announced that Ebrahim Raisi was the country's president by winning the presidential elections.
During a press conference for the Iranian Interior Minister to announce the final results of the presidential elections, he indicated that the turnout in the presidential elections amounted to 48.8 percent.
Ebrahim Raisi received 17 million and 950 thousand votes, while Mohsen Rezaee received 3 million and 412 thousand votes and Hemmati won two million and 427 thousand.
Fazli mentioned that all votes in the Iranian presidential elections are about 28 million and 933 thousand votes.
He thanked the people for participating despite the pressures amid the sanctions.
Iranian candidates congratulated Ebrahim Raisi for winning the presidential elections before the official results were released and President Hassan Rouhani congratulated the Iranian people and said he was waiting to congratulate Raisi when the official results were announced.
On Friday morning, Iranian time, the polling process began to elect the new president of the Islamic Republic, and polling stations opened to more than 59 million Iranians who are eligible to vote and participate in the 13th round of presidential elections.
The polls were closed at 2 am today, Saturday, after extending the voting period three times due to crowding and the intensity of popular participation in the elections.
