Al-Asadi: The Iraqi resistance will respond appropriately to US assault
After the US attacked Iraq’s “PMF”, Ahmed al-Asadi considered that the US is trying to weaken the PMF.
Ahmed al-Asadi, head of al-Sanad bloc inside the Iraqi parliamentary, on Monday, condemned overnight US airstrikes against his country as a "blatant and unacceptable violation which "exceeded all legal frameworks."
"The US airstrikes represent a provocation to the feelings of Iraqis, and an attack on our people's most important pillar," Al-Asadi said in an interview with Al Mayadeen today, Monday, adding that "the presence of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) is a guarantee of Iraq's national security, preventing the return of terrorist groups."
The US assault reflects American annoyance from the PMF," he said, adding that the "US is attempting to weaken the PMF, which will not allow "ISIS" to return."
The legal response must be consistent with the commander in chief's statement, considering that the attack is a flagrant violation," the head of the "Sanad" bloc said, adding that "the state and its institutions will respond, and the PMF wil also respond appropriately to the US aggression."
Al-Asadi's declaration comes after the Iraqi PMF made a statement earlier today about the American strike on its forces west of Anbar.
PMF said that "US jets struck three positions stationed in Al-Qaim, within Iraq's boundaries," according to the statement.
The Sayyid of Martyrs Battalions or Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada in Iraq announced today the martyrdom of 4 of the 14th Brigades in a US aggression on the border between Iraq and Syria.
Al Mayadeen correspondent reported that a US raid targeted a site for the Popular Mobilization in the Al-Qaim area inside Iraqi territory.
