Russian Official: 90% of JCPOA Revival Accomplished
Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organization says that talks on reviving the nuclear deal between Iran and Western powers may again be resumed in 10 days or less.
Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations Mikhail Ulyanov said on Sunday that "talks on the revival of the nuclear deal between great Western powers and Iran may again be resumed in 10 days or less."
Ulyanov clarified that "Sanctions, including oil sanctions, on Tehran may be lifted by August in case a deal is reached."
He went on to say, "90% of the revival of the nuclear deal has been accomplished, and all that is left are some minor details concerning US commitments," adding that "the domestic situation in Iran may influence things."
He also noted that "Iran's plans to produce Uranium were a result of US pressure."
A week ago, Ulyanov noted that the revival of the nuclear deal with Iran and the lifting of US sanctions from Tehran are drawing near.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had accused the West of "attempting to take advantage of the situation of the nuclear deal to change it." He also noted that "great advances have been made in the negotiations to revive the Iranian nuclear deal, but the US must renew its commitments in full, in accordance with the deal."
Russia's PR to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, had earlier considered that "the United States is continuing its policy of Maximum Pressure on Iran, in violation of UNSC resolution 2231, which organized the JCPOA.
