Petition to Release Imprisoned Palestinian Leader Khalida Jarrar
Following the death of Palestinian leader Khalida Jarrar, a campaign and a petition were initiated to free the imprisoned Palestinian leader because they do not want her to "be denied the right to bury her daughter Suha."
Immediately after the death of Palestinian leader Khalida Jarrar's daughter, a petition was launched.
The Change.org petition read, "Instead of surrendering to the belief that revolutionary leader and former Palestinian Legislative Council member Khalida Jarrar will be denied the right to bury her daughter Suha, whose death was announced this evening, let us work locally and internationally to form the necessary pressure that will make it possible."
"Khalida is a Palestinian political prisoner who was arrested for her national political activism. She has the right to participate in her daughter's funeral. Khalida has been incarcerated for nearly two years and is due for release within two months. She has been arrested by the Israeli regime on many occasions, during which time she has been subjected to various forms of abuse and persecution," the petition added.
The petition concluded, "The Israeli regime’s prison administration should release Khalida as soon as possible so that she can bury and mourn her daughter and exercise her most fundamental human rights."

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine mourned "with a great deal of sadness and sorrow, through its political office, central committee, and all its members in the country and in the diaspora, comrade Suha Jarrar, daughter of the imprisoned leader, comrade Khalida "Umm Yafa" Jarrar and comrade Ghassan Jarrar."
The PFLP launched a local and international campaign to release imprisoned leader Khalida Jarrar from the Israeli occupation prisons on Monday so that she can attend her daughter's funeral and say goodbye.
In a statement, the PFLP urged the local and international community to "form a pressure campaign against the occupation's prison administration to release Jarrar at the earliest date possible so that she can say goodbye to her daughter, Suha, and exercise her most basic human rights."
The Front stressed that prisoner Jarrar has the right to attend her daughter's funeral, adding, "Jarrar has been in the occupation prisons for nearly two years, and she is supposed to be released within two months."

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem offered his "sincere condolences to the militant comrade Khalida Jarrar, a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine's Political Bureau, on the death of her daughter Suha Jarrar."
"We offer our condolences to the comrades in the PFLP for this great loss, and we pray to God to have mercy on the deceased and provide her relatives with patience and solace," Qassem said in a press statement.
Khalida Jarrar is one of the most prominent Palestinian political and societal figures. She was known for her political, national, and feminist activism and was arrested several times on this basis; the last of which was her arrest at the end of 2019.
Jarrar is one of the most prominent leaders in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and was elected as a member of the previous Palestinian Legislative Council.
During her last detention period, Jarrar was subjected to psychological torture and was deprived of family visits under the pretext of COVID-19. Her family was able to visit her only 3 times during the past year and four months.
