The District Governor of Bandar Mahshahr announced that a policeman was killed and another was wounded by terrorists that infiltrated the demonstrators protesting the water shortage crisis in the province.
A local official mentioned that the gunmen infiltrated the crowds and opened fire on a police patrol in the area, indicating that the authorities launched an investigation into the crime.
Iranian state television reported that "A second lieutenant was killed midnight Thursday as a result of riots in the town of Taleghani in the city of Mahshahr, Khuzestan province," quoting a police statement.
Last week, the Executive Director of the Barakat Foundation announced that the foundation implemented a project that would supply 471 villages suffering from water shortages in the Khuzestan province with water.
Earlier, on July 18, a video that went viral on social media showed several members of the terrorist Ahwaz movement joining a protest in Khuzestan, southwestern Iran.
