Biden Stresses the Necessity of Establishing A Lebanese Government
US President Joe Biden announces providing Lebanon with "about $100 million in new humanitarian aid," and Britain calls on the Lebanese leaders to conduct an immediate and transparent investigation into the Beirut port explosion.
Today, US President Joe Biden announced providing Lebanon with "about $100 million in new humanitarian assistance," calling on Lebanese political officials to "reform the economy and combating corruption."
"But no amount of outside assistance will ever be enough if Lebanon's leaders do not commit to do the hard but necessary work of reforming the economy and combating corruption," he added.
"It's essential. It has to start now," Biden said. "There's no time to waste. You know it. We are there to help if you do it."

At the same time, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, on the first anniversary of the Beirut port explosion, called on Lebanese leaders to "conduct a transparent and immediate investigation to prosecute those responsible for the bombing."
Raab stressed that "The international community and Britain stand with the Lebanese people," considering that his country has firmly stood by the country since the explosion.
Moreover, French President Emmanuel Macron revealed, during the Donors' Conference for Lebanon, the "possibility of taking measures against Lebanese politicians who play a negative role in the country," as he put it, adding that "we will not cash a blank check to the Lebanese regime."
