The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the statement of the G7 countries for blaming Tehran for the attack on an oil tanker in the Sea of Oman, stressing that the statement by the G7 countries is baseless.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today, Saturday, that the ship's accident was a "contrived scenario on the eve of the swearing-in ceremony for the new president," stressing that Tehran is committed to providing security for the strategic maritime routes in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
The Foreign Ministry also affirmed that Iran is ready to cooperate with countries in the region to provide maritime security.
Iran's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, Zahra Ershadi, reiterated her country's denial of Western countries' and "Israel's" accusations that it targeted a ship off the coast of Oman late last month.
The Iranian denial comes after the foreign ministers of the G7 countries, also blamed Iran for the "attack on an oil tanker on July 29 in the Sea of Oman. "
In a joint statement, the ministers claimed that "all available evidence clearly points to Iran," adding, "We call on all parties to play a constructive role in fostering regional stability and peace."
on his part, the British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab stated that "the UK is working with our international partners on a concerted response to this unacceptable attack."
On July 29, there was a drone attack on an oil tanker operated by an Israeli-owned company off the coast of Oman.
